| Handling Stages
Handling Stages | revised The handling pages have been under construction for a long time. This isnt to say that, just because there hasnt been any actual technical information posted here, there are no options. On the contrary, there are numerous options and they are often considered difficult to categorize. Consider how, when building an engine, you might start with the basics, advance to intermediate installations, and then wade through the advanced aspects of engine building, as the more advanced modifications usually see their fullest potential when the earlier mods offer their support. With suspension, its not so easy. Unlike the engine side of things, suspension mods are often separated only by price and features. If you install a basic system and want to upgrade later, you will have to remove the basic system and either sell it, let it collect dust in your garage, or just throw it away. With that in mind consider the effort required to both accumulate all the details on all the various suspension options there are on the market. Then think of how you would have to break them down into groups and sort them out in a way that made sense to someone else. Extensive discussion has gone on in the background of 2GNT about this project, but the devil is in the details, so here is a demonstration that, yes, the handling stages are under construction and will be in place as soon as possible. Stock Upgrade/Entry Level Where the enthusiast simply wants something to replace his blown stockers. The cheapest solution to worn-out suspension or a desire to improve handling on a tight budget. This would be along the lines of stock struts with Avenger rear springs (drag only) or perhaps KYB GR2s and stock springs. - price point - various options (brands/models/features/benefits) Intermediate Where the enthusiast wants an improvement in handling ability, and has a decent budget, but it not concerned with building a balls deep race car. This would be something like the Illuminas with Eibach Pro-Kit or Sportline springs. Could also be coil over kits? A lot of options in this category. - price point - various options (brands/models/features/benefits) Advanced Where the enthusiast is looking for the best handling available for this platform (without requiring custom chassis fab) and has the budget to make it happen. The JICs and upper level Tein systems, here. - price point - various options (brands/models/features/benefits) Brakes Brakes are an integral part of handling on any car, the information would be arranged in the same manner as the suspension above. This would allow users to perhaps tailor their decisions to a certain area or determine what they feel is more important. Handling Accessories Those items relating to handling (aside from struts/springs/brakes) that are just out there being bought without thought to why they are bought. This would be strut_tower_bars, sway_bars, camber_kits and urethane bushing_kits. These might borrow the price/difficulty format of the power stages.
